The Dominguez Adobe is California Historical Landmark Number 152 and in 1976 was placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior. The Rancho San Pedro and the Dominguez Adobe Museum are truly unique treasures in Los Angeles.

Fall Docent Training 9/6 to 10/11/08 9am to 12pm

Fall docent training will be offered September/October. The training class consists of four sessions beginning September 6, 2008 to finish with a Graduation Celebration party after the last session.

Make a Rancho Day 9/21/08 1pm to 4pm

As part of the Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum’s Weekend Rancho Activity series, “Make A Rancho,” is a fun and interactive workshop where people can create and draw their own Rancho using everyday craft items such as popsicle sticks and sugar cubes. The workshop is a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages can learn about what a Rancho is and make their own. It’s fun, educational and free. Appropriate for ages 5 and up. Reservations are required.

Stained Glass Window Activity 12/7/08 1pm to 4pm

As part of the Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum’s Weekend Rancho Activity series, the “Stained Glass Art” activity is an interactive art and educational workshop, where people are taught how to make their own stained glass art piece. Learn about the Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum as you make your own piece of stained glass art to commemorate your family. It’s fun, educational and free. Appropriate for ages 5 and up. Reservations are required.

Evening Docent Led Tours 12/14/08 4pm to 6pm

Join us at the Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum for late afternoon/early evening tours of the Adobe Museum led by docents dressed in period costume. Come meet Don Manuel, Maria Engracia and the Dominguez Sisters as they lead you through their lives in the Dominguez Adobe. These tours are only done once a year so it an event not to be missed. Appropriate for all ages. The event is free of charge, however reservations are required.

Be a Volunteer! 1/10/2008 10am to 2pm

Explore the world of volunteering at the Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum. Come join us for the Volunteer Open House and learn about volunteer opportunities at the Adobe. Volunteer opportunities include five areas: Public Tour Docents, School Tour Docents, Curatorial Volunteers, Administrative Volunteers and Special Event Volunteers.

Long Beach Cactus Club

Meetings are usually held at the Dominguez Adobe on the 4th Sunday of the month at 1:30 pm. The club maintains a lovely cactus garden on the Adobe grounds and enjoys many activities. Information: 310-603-0088 or 562-981-3810
